People always want to have shiny, bouncy and healthy hair. For that, it is necessary to take proper care of hair. There are some unconventional methods that you can try to nourish your hair and to prevent damage.

Taking vitamins

Hair grows ½" per month on an average. Taking supplements may speed up the normal growth rate to ¾" each month. You should first take a multivitamin that fulfills all the needs of the body. Then you can think of extra nutrition for hair. The useful elements for hair include B complex, zinc, iron, flax seed oil, black currant seed oil, kelp, silica, biotin, folic acid and pantothenic acid. You can also take an amino acids complex to be extra sure.

Massaging the scalp

Regular massaging of the scalp helps in getting stronger and thicker hair. It also helps the hair to grow faster. It stimulates the blood supply in the scalp. The blood provides nutrients to the follicles. Moreover, it also reduces stress. Massaging only for 5 minutes daily can give wonderful results. You need to be careful while massaging. Use the pads of your fingers, not the nails.

Wearing your hair up

You expose your hair to environmental damage when you wear it down. Wind and the dust particles in the air can damage your hair. Wearing up the hair will prevent such damage. You should try to wear your hair up at least half the time.

Getting regular trims

Regular trimming is necessary to keep the ends of hair soft, smooth and thick. The last couple of inches of hair become raggedy and thin if you do not trim them regularly. Trimming also keeps the shape of hair. As hair grows unevenly, any hairstyle can go from chic to shaggy after two or three months. You do not need to get a huge chop or remove all damaged hair at once. Small trims every 2-3 months are sufficient to keep the hair in shape.

Simple techniques for healthy hair

As tap water leaves mineral deposits on hair, it is better to use distilled water as the final rinse while washing hair. Avoid shampooing daily if you have dull hair. Volumizing and thickening shampoos are harmful for fine, thin hair. It is safer not to use hair accessories with metal contents. Using wooden or cellulose acetate combs instead of plastic combs is good for hair. Boar bristles hairbrush is also good for hair. Using satin pillowcase can help you prevent damage to your hair from tossing and turning. Use protein treatment once a week if your hair has damage.
